Traking Transfers invites you to one of the most anticipated events on the Costa Vicentina calendar: the Sagres Birdwatching & Nature Activities Festival, celebrating its 17th edition from 2 to 5 October 2026, in Sagres.
Organised by the Vila do Bispo Municipality, together with SPEA (the Portuguese Society for the Study of Birds) and Almargem, the festival turns the extreme southwest tip of Europe — the Sagres headland and Cape St. Vincent — into one of the continent's finest spots to watch bird migration, between Atlantic cliffs and skies that, every October, fill with wings.
What the festival is about
Born to celebrate one of Europe's most important bird migration corridors, the festival has spent 17 years bringing together experienced birders, families, photographers and the simply curious, in a programme that is mostly free — in 2025 alone there were over 275 activities, 153 of them with free access.

Featured species: the Razorbill
Every edition of the festival celebrates one species. In 2026, the spotlight is on the Razorbill (Alca torda) — an elegant seabird found exclusively in the North Atlantic, which at this time of year can be spotted off the cliffs of Sagres and Cape St. Vincent.
Cape St. Vincent is considered one of the best places in Europe to watch bird migration — and every October, during the festival, that reputation comes to life.
Griffon vultures, eagles and falcons are a familiar sight in the skies over Sagres during migration season.
Where it happens: the same landscape as the Fisherman's Trail
The festival takes place in exactly the area where Stage 10 of the Fisherman's Trail — Vila do Bispo to Sagres — comes to an end, which makes it easy to combine a day of walking with days at the festival. Arriving in Sagres on foot (or by transfer), you'll find the headland, the Fortress and Cape St. Vincent right on your doorstep — all festival meeting points.
